GLP-1 ELISA Kits

GLP-1 is the gastrointestinal peptide hormone secreted from intestinal L cells, and shows the hypoglycemic action through the enhancement of insulin secretion and the suppression of glucagon secretion by the sugar stimulus. The report has been issued that GLP-1 is useful for the treatment of type 2 diabetes as the new therapeutic agent for diabetes.
GLP-1 ELISA Kit Wako, High Sensitive is ELISA kit measurable with a high sensitivity of GLP-1 in the plasma of mouse and rat used with a GLP-1 antibody. Since this kit reacts to both the active form of GLP-1 (7-36 amide) and the inactive form of GLP-1 (9-36 amide), it is suitable for experimental system measuring the total amount of GLP-1.
What is GLP-1?
An important regulator of blood glucose is glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), an incretin (a hormone that stimulates insulin secretion) secreted by the L cells of the small intestine in response to the postprandial increase in blood glucose levels. Acting through G protein-coupled receptors highly expressed in pancreatic β cells, GLP-1 enhances insulin secretion1). To date, a number of GLP-1 receptor agonists have been developed for the treatment of diabetes and obesity. Currently, glucagon receptor antagonists, antibodies, and agonists are being investigated as glucagon-related therapies2).
Because GLP-1 secretion is influenced by factors such as diet, the intestinal environment, and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by the gut microbiota3), GLP-1 has attracted considerable attention as a target for the prevention and treatment of metabolic diseases.

This kit is an ELISA kit that enables highly sensitive measurement of GLP-1 in mouse and rat plasma using a GLP-1 antibody.

Correlation with products from other competitors
Measurements were conducted on the same plasma samples (n=10) from mouse using this kit and competitor's product M. The measurement values obtained using both products were then compared.

Although the results obtained with this kit showed a strong correlation with those obtained with Competitor Product M, discrepancies in the measurement values were observed at high concentrations. Furthermore, the CV for this kit was below 5%, whereas a higher degree of variability was observed with Competitor Product M.

Plasma samples from mouse were measured.
