Showcase Title
Designing Next-Generation iPSC-Based Cell Therapies by Rigorous Cellular and Genomic Characterization of iPSCs
Overview
Realizing the full potential of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) requires not only robust differentiation protocols but well-characterized iPSC lines manufactured with consistent quality, genomic stability, and reproducibility. FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics, Inc. (FCDI) has developed an integrated iPSC platform combining reprogramming, genome engineering, banking, and comprehensive characterization--including next-generation sequencing--to further the understanding of iPSC biology and ensure product consistency for research and clinical applications. Leveraging our extensive multi-omics datasets and expertise in nuclease-mediated genome editing, FCDI optimized site-specific editing strategies that address challenges such as gene silencing by identifying new safe harbor loci and selecting promoters that enable stable, controllable transgene expression. These innovations facilitate rapid generation of well-characterized, genome-engineered clonal iPSC lines for diverse applications. Rigorous genomic and phenotypic characterization embedded within our platform mitigates clinical translation risks and sets new industry benchmarks by often exceeding regulatory standards. These integrated approaches have enabled FCDI to support clients advancing multiple iPSC-derived cell therapies to the clinic and develop research tools for drug discovery and disease modeling. Moving forward, FCDI will continue to enhance iPSC manufacturing and genome engineering capabilities, leveraging strategic partnerships and CDMO services to accelerate the development of safe, effective cell therapies.
